LIFE DRAWING CARICATURES

It´s been a long time without posting anything. I recently moved to Liverpool, where I will be working for the next few months as a concept artist at Magenta Studio. It takes most part of the day so I barely have time to do anything else. However, once a week I'm attending life drawing workshops where I´m taking up old habits with no purpose but having fun. These are some bits of what I did the last week. I felt like drawing caricatures ;D

Llevaba tiempo sin subir nada por aqui, he estado bastante liado desde que me mudé a Liverpool, ciudad donde estaré trabajando durante los próximos meses como concept artist en Magenta Studio. La verdad es que me toma la mayor parte del tiempo pero aun así saco ratos para asistir una vez por semana a una especie de taller de dibujo del natural donde puedo retomar viejos y olvidados hábitos.
Estos son algunos de los garabatos de la semana pasada... sin muchas pretensiones, solo pasarlo bien.

BATALLA POR EL MURO 2013 MADRID

One more year, I have been invited as a guest artist to the Game of Thrones LCG's International Championship Battle for the Wall that will take place next March 16th-17th in Madrid. For this year, I was commissioned to paint the beauties of Westeros, which will be given away to every single participant as a gift along with other prices for the winners. Here is a small sneak peek of some of them. Moreover, I will be there the whole Tournament signing cards, drawing commissions and selling prints, so don't miss your chance to get an original for a good price.

Un año más, he los organizadores del campeonato internacional de Juego de Tronos TCG "Batalla por el Muro" han tenido el detalle de llevarme como artista invitado. Para este año me pidieron pintar a las chicas del Poniente, las cuales serán uno de los regalos para cada uno de los participantes, además de otros premios para los organizadores. Aquí podeis ver un pequeño anticipo de algunas de ellas.
Además, estaré mientras dure el torneo firmando cartas, haciendo dibujos y vendiendo láminas de mis ilustraciones así que no perdais la oportunidad tampoco de haceros con un original a buen precio.

El campeonato tendrá lugar los días 16 y 17 de Marzo en Madrid. Podeis inscribiros o preguntar cualquier duda a través de la web de Batalla por el Muro o su Facebook.

"WISES LAND" SNEAK PEAK

ENG-HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYBODY!
This is a sneak peak of what I've been working on. My cousin, profesional hautbois player and music composer, has just finished to write his first concert for orchestra, a magnificent piece that tell us about an ancient forest where wises gather to discuss about high issues. Influenced by classic soundtrack composers such as John Williams or Howard Shore, Juan Bautista Francés starts off his new carrier as a  music writer and I wish him all the best as he thoroughly deserve it.
As the score is about to be edited, I have painted the cover for it. I'll upload the full image and further information soon. Stay tuned!!!

SP-FELIZ AÑO A TODOS!
Actualizo aqui con lo que he estado haciendo estos dias. Mi primo, oboista profesional y compositor de musica acaba de terminar de escribir su primer concierto para orquesta titulado TIERRA DE SABIOS, una increíble pieza musica que nos sugiere un bosque milenario en el que los sabios se reúnen para debatir asuntos importantes. Influenciado por grandes compositores de bandas sonoras como John Williams o Howard Shore, Juan Bautista Francés arranca su nueva carrera como compositor  y yo le deseo todo lo mejor ya que realmente lo merece.
Puesto que la partitura va a ser editada, me he encargado personalmente de pintar la portada para la misma. Subiré la imagen completa y más información pronto. Estad atentos!!!

WORLD OF WARCRAFT: THE FEAST OF WINTER VEIL

 ENG-Hello everybody. As it is Christmas time, I want to make the most of the opportunity and upload an illustration I did back in 2011 for Blizzard Entertainment. It seems that it has been used recently to advertise the new World of Warcraft Xmas set: The Feast of Winter both as a wallpaper and a special card, and banner on the WoW's Cryptozoic's website.

So Merry Christmas to everybody, thank you very much for having followed my work throughout 2012 and may the new year bring you all what you wish.


SPA-Hola a todos, como estamos en fechas navideñas quería aprovechar la oportunidad y enseñaros una ilustracion que hice el año pasado para Blizzard. Parece ser que ha sido utilizada recientemente para anunciar el nuevo set navideño de World of Warcraft: The Feast of Winter, tanto como fondo de escritorio, carta especial y banner en la web de Cryptozoic.

Así que Feliz Navidad a todo el mundo, muchísimas gracias por seguir mi trabajo a lo largo de este año que acaba y que el nuevo que entra os traiga todo lo que anelais.

EOWYN for IMAGINEFX'91

ImagineFX celebrates The Hobbit coming out next week with an special issue dedicated to J.R.R Tolkien. Artists such as Donatio Giancola, Justin Gerard, Alan Lee or John Howe among others will explain along each tutorial their work-process and some tips to make the work easier.
This issue also includes a workshop of mine, made up of a complete tutorial, the "step by step", some brushes and a video recording the process of painting this illustration of Eowyn. I based myself on her fight against the Witch-King at Peleanor's Fields from The Lord of the Rings... But if you want to learn more about, get the magazine as it's available since last November the 7th.
I hope you like it and find it useful.

Aprovechando el estreno la semana que viene de El Hobbit, ImagineFX ha lanzado un número especial dedicado al maestro J.R.R.Tolkien. Artistas tales como Donato Giancola, Justin Gerard, Alan Lee o John howe entre otros explicarán a lo largo de cada tutorial su proceso de trabajo y algunos consejos para hacer el trabajo más sencillo.
Este numero además incluye un workshop mío compuesto por un completo tutorial, el paso a paso, algunos pinceles y un video del proceso de esta ilustración que pinté especialmente para la ocasión. Me basé para ello en la lucha entre Eowyn y el Rey Brujo en los campos de Peleanor de El Señor de los Anillos.  Pero si quereis saber más al respecto, mejor haceros con la revista que esta a la venta desde el pasado 7 de Noviembre.

GEEK-ART PREMIERE IN PARIS

If a few days ago I anounced S-Artbook was released, now it's time for "GEEK ART: UNA ANTHOLOGIE" by Thomas Olivri, who has extensively worked throughout the last months to bring us such a magnificent book that pays tribute to all the icons of a whole generation and where I've got the pleasure to participate with some of my illustrations. As its title says, Geek Art is an 400 pages anthology of illustrations, designs and art in general from artists all over the world who have been inspired by movies, series and videogames.


Si hace unos dias anunciaba que S-Artbook salía a la venta, ahora le toca a "GEEK ART: UNA ANTHOLOGIE" de Thomas Olivri, quien ha trabajado duramente durante los últimos meses para traernos este pedazo de libro en el cual tengo el gusto de participar con varios de mis dibujos y el cual paga tributo a iconos de toda una generación. Tal y como reza el titulo, Geek Art es una antología de 400 páginas con ilustraciones, diseños y arte en general de artistas de todo el globo cuyo trabajo ha sido inspirado tanto por peliculas, series, videojuegos o música.

The book will be presented tomorrow (november the 7th) in Dernier Bar Avant la Fin du Monde (19 avenue Victoria) in Paris by 16.00 afternoon. Moreover, there will be an Exhibition with high-quality prints of some of the Geek-illustrations which will also be on sale (so buy mine ;P).
So fellows, if you are close to Paris do not hesitate to go to the premiere and have a look at some of the amazing stuff that will be there.


El libro será presentado mañana 7 de Noviembre en Dernier Bar Avant la Fin du Monde en París (19 Avenue Victoria) a eso de las 16.00. Además, habrá una pequeña exposición con impresiones de calidad de algunos de los dibujos del libro, los cuales además estarán a la venta (no olvideis comprar los míos!).
Así que amigos, si estais cerquita de Paris no dudeis en ir a la premier y echar un vistazo a los dibujos que alli encontrareis, de seguro que no os defraudarán.

THE RED WITCH

ENG- This is a commission I've just finished for Enrique "De Angelis" Vázquez, one of the organizers of the First Tournament of A Game of Thrones LCG in Zaragoza (Spain) that took part in April. He asked me to paint a Melissandre from George RR Martin's novels and since he gave me some freedom I went with something slightly different. Down here there is, however, a more conventional version of the same illustration. Hope you like them.
SP- Este es un encargo que acabo de terminar para Enrique "De Angelis" Vázquez, uno de los organizadores del Primer Torneo de Juego de Tronos LCG de Zaragoza (España) que tuvo y tendrá lugar en Abril en dicha ciudad. Kike me pidió que pintase una Melissandre de las novelas de George RR Martin y puesto que me dio cierta libertad opté por hacer algo ligeramente distinto. Aqui abajo teneis una versión algo más convencional aun así. Espero que os guste.

S-ARTBOOK VOL 1

ENG-This weekend will be released "S Artbook Vol1" by Ediciones Babylon. A book made up exclusively of spanish artists' illustrations. I participate with one of my pieces which has been used as well as a watermark on the cover design.
You can get the book trough their website but also by popping in their stand at the "Saló del Manga de Barcelona" within this weekend.

SP-Este fin de semana sale a la venta "S Artbook Vol1" publicado por Ediciones Babylon. Un libro compuesto exclusivamente por ilustraciones de artistas españoles. TYWIN LANNISTER

ENG- I am back from Madrid, where I was the last weekend at the "Ist Battle for the Wall". Organizers invited me as a guest artist and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Good atmosphere, nice people and a lot of laughs. I would like to congratulate to all of them as it has been a success.
Carrying on with a similar topic, I wanted to upload a private commission I did this summer. It's Tywin Lannister from "Song of Fire and Ice" novels.

SP-De regreso de Madrid, donde estuve el pasado fin de semana en la "1ª Batalla por el Muro". La organización del evento quiso llevarme en condición de artista invitado y he de decir que disfrute de la experiencia. Buena atmósfera, buena gente y muchas risas. Quiero agradecerles el buen trato y felicitarles por el resultado de las jornadas.
Siguiendo con el mismo tema, actualizo una comisión para un particular. Se trata de un Tywin Lannister, de las novelas de "Canción de Hielo y Fuego.

ENG-This is an illustration I did a few months ago for a friend of mine who was working on her dissertation. It claims for the bad cold-proofing in some low-class hotels which are thought to waste a bunch of money in ineffective measures to keep the heath such as turning up the heater instead of trying different solutions which could benefit them in the long. Therefore, she wanted me to depict a porter wearing all sort of silly stuff trying to keep himself warm unsuccessfully.

ESP-Esta es una ilustración que hice algunos meses para una amiga que estaba trabajando en su proyecto final de Máster. La cosa iba de divulgar y reivindicar las malas condiciones térmicas de algunos hoteles que invierten al cabo del año mucho dinero en soluciones a corto plazo (como subir la calefacción) en lugar de pensar en otro tipo de medidas más a la larga. Es por ello que me pidieron pintar un botones tratando de mantener su propio calor a base de llevar todo tipo de objetos tontos que se pueden encontrar en un hotel.

"I BATALLA POR EL MURO" in MADRID, INTERVIEWS, PUBLICATIONS AND STUFF

ENG-A lot of news coming up. First of all, I am happy to announce next September 22- 23 I will be in the "I BATTLE FOR THE WALL"in Madrid, where players from all around Spain will gather to face up to each other in a Game of Thrones card tournament. I will be there having a good time while signing cards, doing some sketches for you and sharing some funny stories about how working in illustration is like. Additionally, each player will receive as a present an special card of the coat of arms of their house designed by me for that particular occasion and the best ones, other gifts such as signed prints or original sketches .

SP-Noticias a la vista! El próximo 22 y 23 de Septiembre estaré en Madrid firmando cartas, haciendo dibujos y pasando un buen fin de semana con los participantes de la I BATALLA POR EL MURO, un evento que reunirá jugadores de toda España para batirse en duelo  en un singular torneo a cartas de Juego de Tronos. Cada participante recibirá como obsequio una carta con el emblema de su casa y los mejores regalos como láminas firmadas o bocetos originales.

ENG-Besides, IMAGE COMICS has introduced its new NANCY IN HELL (ON EARTH) TP which will be available on October 24, 2012. The comic book is made up of the first 4 issues. Art by Enrique Lopez Lorenzana, written by El Torres and cover art by me.

SP-Paralelamente, IMAGE COMICS ha anunciado su nuevo NANCY IN HELL (ON EARTH) TP que estará disponible a partir del 24 de Octubre de 2012. El comic esta compuesto por los cuatro primeros números de la serie. Arte de Enrique Lopez Lorenzana, guión de El Torres y portada mía.

Christophe and his wife have decided to celebrate their new parenthood by creating a website for his newborn Eliott when keep all his photos and memories. This is a couple of illustrations I did for them to make it a bit more beautiful and personal. Hope you like them and congratulations to both! And yes, the worm looks like Earthworm Jim.

5th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BLOG!

Today is an special day for me as it has been 5 years since I started this blog. Time flies but I perfectly remember that summer of 2007 when I decided to start to upload all the illustrations
I painted just for fun. Sooner did the blog became not only a kind of diary to show my work and progress to the public, but also an extra motivation to keep on working. Little by little it has been growing at the same time than me and more than 200.000 people has pass through the website, some of them making their own comments and giving their opinions and a few hiring me, making possible to earn a life doing what I most like, painting, tell stories through images and share them with you. To all of you, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT, and for many years of good work!

Hoy es un dia especial para mi ya que este blog cumple 5 añitos desde que echó a andar. El tiempo vuela pero aun recuerdo aquel verano de 2007 cuando decidi empezar a subir los dibujos que iba haciendo. Pronto el blog se convirtió no solo en una especie de diario en el que iba mostrando mis trabajos y evolución, sino que tambien una motivación más para trabajar. Poco a poco el blog ha ido creciendo conmigo y más de 200.000 personas han ido pasando por esta web, algunos han dejado comentarios y otros han contado conmigo para sus propios proyectos haciendo posible que pueda ganarme la vida haciendo lo que más me gusta, pintar y contar historias a través de mis dibujos para compartirlo. A todos vosotros, MUCHÍSIMAS GRACIAS POR VUESTRO APOYO y por muchos más años de buen trabajo!

A GAME OF THRONES: A SONG OF THE SEA, Aurene Waters

I am sorry for the recent lack of posts, I have been working steadily for the last 2 months since I finish my english course but I cannot show anything I did for the time being. However, since Fantasy Flight Games released some details of the further card set of A Game of Thrones: A Song of the sea on its website, I have its permission to show one of the illustrations I did some time ago for them. I am pleased to introduce you Auren Waters. Hope you like it ;)

Siento la ausencia de posts, he estrado trabajando de manera contínua durante los últimos 2 meses tras terminar el curso de ingles aunque no puedo mostrar nada de lo hecho por ahora. Aun así, ya que FFG ha desvelado algunos detalles en su web sobre el nuevo set de cartas de Juego de Tronos: Song of the Sea en su web, tengo su beneplácito para enseñar una de las ilustraciones que les hice hace algún tiempo.
